ENERGY / THE INVERSE-SQUARE LAW
At Mars’s mean orbital distance, sunlight above the atmosphere is about 43% as intense as at Earth.
Relative sunlight = 1 / distance². Top-of-atmosphere geometry; dust, panel angle and conversion losses reduce usable power.
MATTER / LOCAL RESOURCES
Making useful resources locally changes what has to launch from Earth. But extraction takes energy, equipment, maintenance and a known supply.
NASA’s MOXIE experiment demonstrated oxygen production from the Martian atmosphere. Scaling that principle into dependable infrastructure is a separate engineering challenge.

Outside.
A habitat must maintain pressure, manage heat, recycle essential resources and reduce radiation exposure. The boundary between inside and outside is an engineered system.
Local, controlled environments are a nearer engineering question. Planet-scale terraforming remains uncertain and far beyond STARXIS’s initial scope.

STARXIS is a planned space venture focused first on lunar resources and energy. The Martian horizon gives that work a larger context. It is a direction for research, not a scheduled mission.
